This Usage Policy governs how you may use CookBetter (the "Service") and supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Together, these three documents form a unified set of policies governing your use of the Service. By using CookBetter, you agree to comply with this Usage Policy.
1. Acceptable Use
CookBetter is designed for personal, non-commercial use as a recipe management, meal planning, and nutrition tracking tool. You agree to use the Service only for its intended purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and the Policies.
Acceptable use includes:
- Importing, saving, organizing, and managing recipes for personal use.
- Using AI recipe conversion to adapt recipes to your dietary needs.
- Planning meals, tracking pantry inventory, and managing grocery lists.
- Recording cook history and reviewing nutritional information.
- Submitting good-faith feature suggestions, bug reports, and recipe reports.
2. "Unlimited" Premium — Fair Use Policy
2.1 Definition
Premium subscriptions may be described as offering "unlimited" recipe imports, AI conversions, or other features. "Unlimited" does not mean without any restrictions. All Premium usage is subject to this fair use policy.
"Unlimited" means a generous allowance designed for reasonable personal use by a single individual — not automated, bulk, systematic, or commercial-scale usage.
2.2 Fair Use Boundaries
Fair use of "unlimited" Premium features means:
- Usage patterns consistent with a single person manually using the app for personal recipe management.
- Importing and converting recipes at a pace that reflects genuine personal interest and need.
- Accessing the Service through the official CookBetter application only.
The following activities exceed fair use and are prohibited regardless of subscription tier:
- Automated or scripted usage: Using bots, scripts, automated tools, browser extensions, or any non-human means to interact with the Service.
- Bulk operations: Performing large volumes of imports, conversions, or other operations in a short period of time in a manner that is inconsistent with normal personal use or that places undue strain on the Service's infrastructure.
- Systematic data extraction: Downloading, exporting, scraping, or systematically collecting recipe data, nutritional information, or any other data from the Service for storage, redistribution, or use outside the Service.
- Commercial exploitation: Using the Service to generate content, data, or outputs for sale, licensing, redistribution, or any commercial purpose.
- Shared account usage: Allowing multiple individuals to use a single Premium account.
2.3 Rate Limits and Adjustments
TetherHub LLC implements per-day and per-hour rate limits on Service features, including but not limited to recipe imports and AI conversions. These rate limits apply to all users, including Premium subscribers, and are designed to ensure the stability and fair availability of the Service.
These rate limits and fair use thresholds are subject to change at any time, without prior notification to users. TetherHub LLC reserves the right to adjust, increase, or decrease these limits at its sole discretion based on system capacity, abuse patterns, or operational needs.
2.4 Enforcement
If TetherHub LLC detects usage patterns that suggest automated use, abuse, or activity inconsistent with reasonable personal use, we reserve the right to:
- Temporarily throttle or rate-limit your access to specific features.
- Temporarily suspend your account pending review.
- Permanently terminate your account for repeated or severe violations.

3. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited when using the Service. Violation of any of these prohibitions may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without prior notice.
3.1 Data Scraping and Harvesting
You may not use any automated means — including bots, crawlers, scrapers, spiders, scripts, browser automation tools, or any other technology — to access, collect, extract, download, copy, or harvest data from the Service. This includes but is not limited to recipe data, nutritional information, ingredient databases, and any other content available through the Service.
3.2 Reverse Engineering
You may not decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, data structures, or underlying architecture of the Service or any of its components, including but not limited to the AI conversion engine, recipe extraction pipeline, or nutritional calculation systems.
3.3 Data Redistribution and Resale
You may not store, reproduce, redistribute, publish, license, sell, or otherwise make available any data obtained through the Service for use outside the Service. This includes copying recipe data, nutritional information, or ingredient data into other applications, databases, websites, or services.
3.4 Circumvention of Restrictions
You may not bypass, disable, interfere with, or attempt to circumvent any technical measures implemented by the Service, including but not limited to:
- Rate limits and usage caps.
- Authentication and access control mechanisms.
- Domain whitelist restrictions for URL imports.
- Import locks and concurrent operation restrictions.
- Account suspension enforcement.
- Free-tier usage limitations (including creating multiple accounts to obtain additional free-tier allowances).
3.5 System Abuse
You may not intentionally or recklessly:
- Overload, disrupt, or degrade the performance or availability of the Service or its infrastructure.
- Exploit bugs, vulnerabilities, or errors in the Service for unintended purposes.
- Transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code through the Service.
- Perform any form of denial-of-service attack.
3.6 Account Abuse
You may not:
- Create multiple accounts for any purpose, including circumventing free-tier limits or evading a previous suspension or termination.
- Share your account credentials with any other individual.
- Transfer or sell your account to another person.
3.7 Content Violations
You may not upload, submit, or transmit content that:
- Is illegal under applicable law.
- Contains harassment, hate speech, threats, or incitement to violence.
- Is defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
- Infringes upon the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party.
- Constitutes spam, unsolicited advertising, or commercial solicitation.
- Is intentionally false, misleading, or fraudulent.
4. Content Guidelines
4.1 User Submissions
Feature suggestions, bug reports, and recipe reports should be submitted in good faith with the intent of improving the Service or reporting genuine issues. Submitting false, misleading, abusive, or spam reports is prohibited.
4.2 Content Moderation
TetherHub LLC reserves the right, but is not obligated, to review, monitor, edit, or remove any User Content at its sole discretion. We may take action on content that we determine violates these Policies, regardless of whether a report has been submitted.
5. Account Suspension and Termination
5.1 Enforcement Actions
Violations of this Usage Policy may result in one or more of the following actions, at TetherHub LLC's sole discretion:
- Warning: A notice that your activity has been flagged as a potential policy violation.
- Feature restriction: Temporary throttling or disabling of specific features (e.g., imports, AI conversions).
- Account suspension: Temporary lockout of your account. Suspended users will see an in-app suspension screen with instructions to contact support@cookbetter.app.
- Account termination: Permanent and irreversible removal of your account and all associated data.
TetherHub LLC may take any of the above actions without prior notice, particularly in cases of severe, repeated, or intentional violations.
5.2 Appeals
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may contact us at support@cookbetter.app to request a review. TetherHub LLC will review appeals in good faith but is not obligated to reinstate any account.
6. Subscription Obligations
6.1 Apple App Store Management
Your CookBetter subscription is purchased and managed exclusively through the Apple App Store. TetherHub LLC does not have the ability to cancel, modify, pause, or refund your subscription on your behalf. All subscription management — including cancellation — must be performed by you through your Apple Account settings.
6.2 No Automatic Cancellation
TetherHub LLC will NOT automatically cancel your subscription under any circumstances, including but not limited to:
- Account termination: If your account is suspended or permanently terminated for violating this Usage Policy, the Terms of Service, or the Privacy Policy, your subscription will continue to renew and you will continue to be charged by Apple until you cancel through your Apple Account settings.
- Account deletion: If you voluntarily delete your account through the in-app Settings, your subscription will continue to renew and you will continue to be charged by Apple until you cancel through your Apple Account settings.
It is your sole responsibility to cancel your subscription through Apple before or after your account is deleted or terminated. TetherHub LLC is not responsible for any charges incurred due to a failure to cancel your subscription.
6.3 Refunds
All refund requests must be directed to Apple through their standard refund process. TetherHub LLC does not process refunds directly.
7. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any user or activity that violates this Usage Policy, please report it to us at support@cookbetter.app. When reporting, please include:
- A description of the violation.
- Any relevant details or evidence (e.g., screenshots, timestamps).
- The nature of the concern.
TetherHub LLC will investigate reports and take appropriate action. We may not be able to share the outcome of investigations due to privacy considerations.
8. Modifications to This Usage Policy
TetherHub LLC reserves the right to modify this Usage Policy at any time, at its sole discretion. Changes may be made without prior notice. Your continued use of the Service after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Usage Policy.
We encourage you to review this Usage Policy periodically. If we make material changes, we may notify you through the Service or via email, but we are not obligated to do so for all changes, particularly those related to rate limits and fair use thresholds.
