These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CookBetter (the "Service"), a mobile application operated by TetherHub LLC ("TetherHub," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Usage Policy (collectively, the "Policies"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use CookBetter. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. We do not knowingly collect information from or direct the Service to children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will promptly delete their account and associated data.
2. Account Registration and Security
To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You may register using an email address and password, Apple Sign-In, or Google Sign-In.
By creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials.
- Notify us immediately at support@cookbetter.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may only create and maintain one account per person. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent free-tier limitations, evade a suspension, or for any other purpose is strictly prohibited and constitutes grounds for immediate termination of all associated accounts.
3. Description of Service
CookBetter is a personal recipe management, meal planning, and nutrition tracking application. The specific features, functionality, and content available through the Service may change from time to time at TetherHub LLC's sole discretion.
The Service is provided on an "as is" basis and may be modified, updated, or discontinued at any time without prior notice.
4. Subscription and Billing
4.1 Free and Premium Tiers
CookBetter offers both a free tier and paid premium subscriptions. The free tier is subject to usage limitations that may change at any time. Premium subscriptions unlock enhanced access to the Service, subject to the fair use limitations defined in our Usage Policy. Current pricing and plan details are available within the app.
4.2 Apple App Store Billing
All subscription purchases, renewals, and billing are managed exclusively through the Apple App Store. TetherHub LLC does not directly process payments, manage billing information, or store payment credentials. By purchasing a subscription, you agree to Apple's terms and conditions for in-app purchases.
- To manage or cancel your subscription, you must do so through your Apple Account settings.
- TetherHub LLC does not have the ability to cancel, modify, pause, or refund subscriptions on your behalf.
- All refund requests must be directed to Apple through their standard refund process.
4.3 No Automatic Cancellation
Your subscription will NOT be automatically cancelled under any circumstances by TetherHub LLC, including but not limited to:
- (a) Account Deletion. If you choose to delete your account through the in-app settings, your subscription will continue to renew and you will continue to be charged by Apple until you separately cancel through your Apple Account settings.
- (b) Account Termination. If your account is suspended or terminated by TetherHub LLC for violating these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Usage Policy, your subscription will NOT be cancelled. You remain solely responsible for cancelling your subscription through your Apple Account settings.
We strongly recommend that you cancel your subscription through Apple BEFORE deleting your account or in the event that your account is terminated.
4.4 Pricing Changes
TetherHub LLC reserves the right to change subscription pricing at any time. Price changes will apply to new subscriptions and renewals after the change takes effect. Existing subscribers will be notified of pricing changes in accordance with Apple App Store policies.
5. User Content and Intellectual Property
5.1 TetherHub LLC Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, source code, algorithms, branding, logos, visual elements, AI conversion technology, and all associated proprietary technology, is the exclusive property of TetherHub LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or interest in the Service beyond the limited right to use it in accordance with these Terms.
5.2 Your Content
By creating, uploading, importing, or otherwise submitting content to the Service — including recipes, notes, ratings, meal plans, pantry items, grocery lists, and cookbook descriptions ("User Content") — you grant TetherHub LLC a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, store, process, display, reproduce, modify, and transmit your User Content for any purpose related to operating, improving, or promoting the Service.
All AI-converted recipes and any other content generated by the Service using your User Content are the property of TetherHub LLC. The AI conversion technology, processes, and algorithms used to generate those conversions are also the proprietary property of TetherHub LLC.
5.3 Content Responsibility
You represent and warrant that you have the right to upload, import, or submit any content you provide to the Service, and that such content does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party. You are solely responsible for the content you submit.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data: Use automated tools, bots, scripts, crawlers, or any other automated means to access, scrape, extract, copy, or collect data from the Service.
- Reverse engineer: Decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, algorithms, or underlying structure of the Service or any part thereof.
- Export or redistribute data: Download, store, or export data obtained through the Service for use outside the Service, or redistribute, resell, license, or commercially exploit such data in any form.
- Circumvent restrictions: Bypass, disable, or interfere with rate limits, authentication mechanisms, security features, access controls, or any other technical measures implemented by the Service.
- Abuse the Service: Engage in any activity that disrupts, degrades, or interferes with the operation, performance, or availability of the Service, including but not limited to denial-of-service attacks, excessive automated requests, or exploitation of vulnerabilities.
- Share accounts: Share your account credentials with any other person or allow multiple individuals to access the Service through a single account.
- Impersonate or misrepresent: Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely claim or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Submit harmful content: Upload or transmit content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
- Violate applicable law: Use the Service in any manner that violates any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
Violation of any of the above constitutes grounds for immediate suspension or termination of your account without prior notice.
7. Account Suspension and Termination
7.1 Suspension and Termination by TetherHub LLC
TetherHub LLC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to suspend or permanently terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Violation of these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Usage Policy.
- Conduct that TetherHub LLC reasonably believes is harmful to other users, the Service, or TetherHub LLC.
- Engagement in prohibited activities as described in Section 6.
- Extended periods of inactivity.
If your account is suspended, you will see an in-app suspension notification with instructions to contact support@cookbetter.app. Suspension does not guarantee that your account will be reinstated.
7.2 Termination by You
You may delete your account at any time through the in-app Settings screen. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Upon deletion, all of your personal data, including recipes, cookbooks, meal plans, pantry items, grocery lists, cook history, and feedback submissions, will be permanently removed from our systems.
As stated in Section 4.4, deleting your account does NOT cancel your Apple subscription. You must cancel your subscription separately through your Apple Account settings.
7.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination or deletion of your account:
- Your right to access and use the Service immediately ceases.
- All User Content associated with your account will be permanently deleted.
- Any remaining free-tier allowances or usage counters are forfeited.
- Your subscription, if any, is NOT cancelled and must be managed through Apple.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Without limiting the foregoing, TetherHub LLC makes no representations or warranties that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or available at any particular time or location.
- Any defects or errors will be corrected.
- The results obtained from the use of the Service will be accurate, reliable, or complete.
8.1 Nutritional Information Disclaimer
Nutritional information provided by the Service, including calorie counts, macronutrient breakdowns, and micronutrient data, is sourced from third-party databases and AI-generated estimates. This information is approximate and should not be relied upon for medical, dietary, or health decisions. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making dietary changes based on nutritional data provided by the Service.
8.2 AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
AI recipe conversions, text parsing, and image-based recipe extraction are powered by third-party artificial intelligence services. These outputs may contain errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or unexpected ingredient substitutions. You are solely responsible for reviewing all AI-generated content before use, particularly with respect to food allergies, intolerances, dietary restrictions, and food safety. TetherHub LLC assumes no liability for adverse reactions, injuries, or health consequences resulting from reliance on AI-generated recipe content.
8.3 Barcode Data Disclaimer
Product information obtained through barcode scanning is sourced from Open Food Facts, a community-maintained database. This data may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. TetherHub LLC does not verify the accuracy of barcode-scanned product information and assumes no liability for errors in such data.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TETHERHUB LLC, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF GOODWILL, OR ANY OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSS, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO:
- Your use of or inability to use the Service.
- Any content obtained from the Service, including AI-generated recipes, nutritional information, or barcode data.
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or transmissions.
- Any allergic reaction, adverse health event, or injury resulting from recipes, nutritional information, or food-related content provided by the Service.
- Any third-party conduct or content on the Service.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF TETHERHUB LLC FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID TO TETHERHUB LLC (VIA APPLE APP STORE SUBSCRIPTIONS) IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY DOLLARS ($50.00), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TetherHub LLC, its officers, directors, members, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service.
- Your violation of these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Usage Policy.
- Your User Content.
- Your violation of any rights of any third party.
- Any claim that your User Content caused damage to a third party.
11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
11.1 Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising out of or related to them or the Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States of America, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
11.2 Informal Dispute Resolution
Before initiating any formal dispute resolution proceedings, you agree to first contact us at support@cookbetter.app and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for a period of at least thirty (30) days. During this period, both parties agree to negotiate in good faith to resolve the dispute.
11.3 Binding Arbitration
If the dispute is not resolved through informal resolution within 30 days, you and TetherHub LLC agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Usage Policy, or the Service shall be resolved exclusively through final and binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual action in small claims court if the claim qualifies.
Arbitration shall be conducted by a single arbitrator in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") then in effect. The arbitration shall take place in the State of New Jersey. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
11.4 Class Action Waiver
YOU AND TETHERHUB LLC AGREE THAT EACH PARTY MAY ONLY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS ACTION, COLLECTIVE ACTION, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not otherwise preside over any form of a class, collective, or representative proceeding.
11.5 Small Claims Court
Notwithstanding the above, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court for disputes or claims within the jurisdiction of a small claims court in the State of New Jersey.
12. Modifications to Terms
TetherHub LLC reserves the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time, at its sole discretion. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service (such as an in-app notification) or via the email address associated with your account. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.
13. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining provisions of these Terms shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Usage Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TetherHub LLC regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements, communications, and understandings, whether written or oral.
